Since yesterday, I have been thinking about my next article I intended to call art is an explosion, since my migraine made me think of how art is just another way to stimulate the brain.
And I was exploring the limits of appreciated versus unwelcome or offensive stimulus, as in one that triggers unease or even pain in others.
From boredom to pain, a spectrum
I thought that the absence stimulation of the senses leads to boredom, some or gentle stimulus is appreciated while forced or loud or aggressive stimulus is offensive or tasteless.
My guess is that overtime the brain gets used to a certain level of stimulation and develops and grows around it. Any sudden change to it can feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. This can show itself as migraines for example, or any physiological manifestation of stress.
Thus, the importance of understanding where we, and the others are each coming from, each one's habits, traditions and culture before coming in announced and then treating one another of being retarded and close minded.
In fact, when someone speaks, anyone nearby has no choice but to hear their voice.
If you think about it, people have no way of stopping our voice from entering their ears or our look from entering their eyes.
With great power...
I think it is important to understand the weight with which we have the ability to affect other people's experiences and senses simply by showing up or uttering some sound.
Being unapologetic is viewed as good and positive in today's world but it actually is just aggressive and tactless.
I think clear communication is required when interacting with one another, but it should start with tact and politeness and introducing oneself to the other in hope of finding communion not aggressive and entitled affirmation of self.
